Friends

Friends,

Gaza is on the brink of collapse: the battle is happening now in urban areas, densely populated with 1.5 million civilians. The food, medicines and water scarce. President Bush has removed support for UN resolution on Thursday January 8 and today more than 1,000 people have already lost their lives. The border crossings remain closed, journalists can not enter but can not leave civilians.

The world has been moving to end this war, our request has reached 467,000 signatures and is still growing, has been given to leaders in the European Union, UN and Arab League members in the United States have been flooded with calls telephone offices of their representatives and members of Avaaz around the world have donated more than $ D120.00 a campaign advertisements in key newspapers

The pressure is working and that's why we are increasing: rigorous and important announcements in the United States to press the president-elect Barack Obama to personally change the course of American diplomacy, meeting face to face to deliver our petition to European leaders urging them to act now and actively working with Israelis and Palestinians on a bold plan of action. Each of these steps will strengthen the more we join in the campaign. We need to reach the one million signatures this week: signing the petition now if you have not yet done so and forward this mail to all your friends and family:

The voices of a cease-fire is finally being heard in the Israeli government. Hamas says it could accept an agreement that includes a monitoring and Turkish EU as a whole, but each party is still a long way to finish this for themselves. Therefore joint action by the world powers is critical and the voice of the world's citizens can make a difference if you call in unison that the president-elect Obama) to take the next (the European Union and the Arab and Muslim states are involved in ensuring just a cessation of hostilities.

This week we will be putting pressure on European countries and Muslims to achieve a more effective international initiative to stop violence, protect civilians on both sides and trying to restore normal patterns of life in Gaza, while at the same time to send the request Nations Secretary-General United Ban Ki-Moon who is working for a Middle East settlement.

We also published a notice sponsored by our members in the influential Washington Post newspaper and the Roll Call, the publication of the U.S. Congress, and on the day of his inauguration) this coming Tuesday (, we are pressing Barack Obama to abandon the failed foreign policies of the Bush administration and act immediately to stop the pursuit of war.

It's amazing what you can achieve when hundreds of thousands of us join in the world. If you go up the ante this week, could ultimately help end the horror that we live in Gaza. Follow the link below to take the first step by signing the petition, and then spread the word so that others can do the same:

With hope and determination,
